Knock-off Monograms at Half the Price!

I adore Pottery Barn’s 28” monograms but not the price tag.

At $139 apiece, they were more than I wanted to spend. Especially, since I have wanted one for above my bar and one for my daughter’s bedroom. So I set out to make my own less expensive knock-off wooden monograms.  And, I was able to do BOTH monograms for about half of the price using monograms from www.unfinishedwoodco.com.
Materials
Unfinishedwoodo’s 34″W x 24″H x .5″D Monogram @ $44.99
Unfinishedoodco’s 15″W x 10.5″H x .5″D Monogram @ $16.99
Satin Finish White Spray Paint $4.00 (Paint and Primer in one)
Flat Black Spray Paint $4.00 (Paint and Primer in one)
Sand Paper
Cardboard box

Total Cost: Approximately $70.00
Total Time: Approximately 1 hour
First, I ordered two unfinished monograms from unfinishedwoodco.com.

Next, I sprayed the sides of the monograms twice with about 10 minutes of drying time in between coats. I choose to do the sides first so that the excess mist would help to cover the top (saved a little paint)!
I let the monograms dry for about 30 minutes and then I lightly sanded the sides and top.
Then, I applied a topcoat and let that dry about 10 minutes more.
I lightly sanded the top again and applied a final topcoat.

It was simple and inexpensive and they look absolutely gorgeous!
