Summer Fun!

Alas, the summer is finally here.  The kids are out of school and their vacation is underway.   Now the real work begins for the adults to try and find new and creative ways to keep our children engaged and active in the hot summer months.  This summer I plan on trying out a few of these unique inexpensive crafts that go beyond just simply making something.  I like crafts that have play value and/or an educational twist to them.  So for the next few months I’ll be featuring some of the fun craft projects I plan to try with the little ones in my life.  I’ll post the outcomes of my projects once I’ve done them and report back on our experience.  Please feel free to leave comments on any of the projects that you try and let me know how they turn out.

Projects I plan to try this summer:

1. ROCK PAINTING – so simple but I’ve never tried it.  I like the idea of doing characters like the bugs and monsters, but I also think it would be great to make game pieces like these dominoes (definitely in kid’s colors though, and not just black and white).  If I can come up with a fun word game, I’ll do the letters with the kids as well.

2. SPONGE BALL  – I can’t wait to make these and have a colossal water fight…

3. BALLOON BEAN BAGS: This is a fun project.  I’ve done something similar to this before.  Fun for kids, and it makes a great stress ball for adults as well.  There are a lot of great outdoor uses once you make them.  You could use them to play hopscotch, learn to juggle, hide them in the yard and have the kids find them, or simply play catch.  My plan is to make a kids set of Bocce Balls.  Looking forward to featuring this project.
