I love the E and would like to do something similar. I am wanting to make an S I bought look like it is metal rather than wood. I bought silver leafing paint but need guidance on doing the black edging to make it look finished.

Sorry for the delay.
This letter was painted white base coat (1 coat)
Then painted black over (1 coat) base coat
Then wax (from bottom of white or cream candle) was generously applied to the edges of
letter.
Last coat a deep Red ( not cherry ) [let dry ] then rubbed with a coarse (wet) rag to remove the red from the black paint underneath. And finally
lightly sanded edges removing the red and the black leaving a hint of white
from the base coat..
{Keep in mind during each of the final steps you can remove as MUCH or as
LITTLE of the paint to your own taste.}
Easy finish to accomplish but there are several steps.
