Easter is just around the corner and it is time to decorate! This year why not greet your guests with this lovely Monogram Easter Bunny instead of the customary floral Easter wreath? It is elegant, yet simple, and the monogram certainly adds a touch of personalization.

Supplies:

  • 1″ Paint Brushes
  • White Acrylic Paint
  • Medium Grit Sandpaper or Sanding Block
  • Cloth rags
  • Minwax Stain
  • Rubber Gloves
  • Wood Bunny monogram (Purchased from www.UnfinishedWoodCo.com)
  • Decorative Ribbon (Grey with Polka Dot Purchased at Hobby Lobby)

Directions:

1. Make sure the monogram is completely free of dust by wiping with a clean rag.

2. Apply a single coat of white acrylic paint to the sides and front of the bunny.  Start on the sides, painting all of the edges first then moving to the top.  Remember to use paint sparingly to avoid paint build up and drips.  Let the project dry thoroughly before moving on. (I usually wait over night for curing time)

3. Using medium grade sand paper, sand down your project to create a weathered look.  Make sure to hit all edges, varying the amount of sanding as you go.  Lightly hit the top in several spots to finish of the worn look.

4.  Use a clean rag to wipe the project clean.

5.  Apply the stain as follows:

With the bunny facing away lay it on one side and stain everything you can see of the edges.

Wipe the stain off the sides and top leaving as much or as little as you prefer.

The stain has a sealer so the project is finished when it is completely dry. You can add a pre-made bow, or make your own.  This one was made from ribbon purchased at Hobby Lobby.
