Distressed Turkey Monogram

turkey, distressed, cropped

  • Unfinished Wood Co. 17″ Turkey Monogram
  • FolkArt Acrylic Paint – Wicker White
  • FolkArt Home Décor Chalk Paint – Vintage Mustard, Imperial, Monarch, Java, Spanish Moss
  • Brushes: 1″ flat, #8 flat
  • Sandpaper

TIP: For best results, let paint dry between steps.

1. Basecoat entire turkey with Wicker White.

2. Paint turkey body and tail with Java.

3. Paint feet, beak and a few feathers with Vintage Mustard.

4. Paint wattle and a few feathers with Imperial.

5. Paint remaining feathers with Spanish Moss, Monarch and Java.

6. Paint monogram and a border around circle with River Walk.

7. Sand to create a distressed finish. Heavy sanding on the feathers will reveal more of the Java basecoat.

8. Using a dry brush, add a little Java to feathers to create additional distressing.
